Quite often these days, I find myself feeling sorry for the current generation of gamers. They have to grow up in an era where graphics reign supreme over fun, varied, original content and the first person military shooter rules with an iron fist. I often hear developers and publishers talking about this modern age as the golden era of gaming, and I'm sure quite a few people would tend to agree right off the bat. Sales of gaming products are higher than ever and gaming has never been such a mainstream experience, never been exposed to such a wide demographic of individuals. But I would disagree; to put it in comic book terms, I believe we've already passed from the Golden Age into the Silver Age. I know I sound like an old fart spouting “back in my day” nonsense, but I just can't picture anyone feeling nostalgic ten years from now over Modern Warfare 2. To me the Golden Age of gaming was the era of 16 bit titles, and none exemplify this age more than the numerous beat-em-ups that ruled the arcades in the 90's. For a very long time, I thought we old gamers would never get the chance in this modern era to have an experience that harkened back to our childhoods in the Golden Age ever again. Then Ubisoft dropped Scott Pilgrim vs the World: The Game into the fray.
